The figure represents a year-on-year increase of roughly 9.06%, up from 24.87 million tonnes last season, underscoring a strong recovery in the country’s sugar sector.
Total sugarcane crushed climbed to 283.54 million tonnes, an increase of about 18.03 million tonnes year-on-year. The national average sugar recovery rate also improved to 9.56% (from 9.37%), pointing to enhanced extraction efficiency despite regional variations.
Of the 541 mills that operated this season, only 74 remain active, down sharply from 113 at the same point last year, indicating the campaign is in its final stage.
